So I originally thought I'd paint roses or peonies, but my mother had these beautiful poppies growing in her garden earlier this summer. They've always been a favorite of mine, since I watched the Wizard of Oz as a child.
Cicada: that big gentle big that makes a high pitched whistle in late summer. I couldn't help but add a little bit of silver sparkle to his wings.
Country fields of grass, just like you'd find in Bowdoinham Maine.
This picture is based off of a picture I took myself last summer. I have always loved painting buoys...as they're shaped so simply, I had a great time painting this piece. There's much fun to be had, playing with color combinations.

This piece was actually commission work for a customer I did work for this past winter. I'm thrilled to paint so many wedding presents. And I liked the idea of doing a "live lobster," I think so often we think of lobsters as being red, but of course when they're scavenging on the Sea Floor they're many different color combinations of brown, blue purple and green.

Another live lobster...I enjoyed painting the commissioned one so much that I decided to paint a second live lobster only with slightly different colors
I was stung by several jellyfish down at Kent Island in MD once while participating in an ocean outrigger race. I had that race in mind while painting this colorful jellyfish. It was a new kind of painting for me since unlike other sea creatures I've painted, this one came out looking a bit more abstract.
